Workshop description

Household behavior has received increasing attention in the theoretical and empirical literature, particularly on the issue of labor supply, domestic production, time allocation and distribution of income and well-being within households. Recent research on developing economies has rarely used the new modeling strategies, such as the general framework of collective models. Few applications are available and time use surveys remain unexploited for developing countries.

The workshop proposes to bring together French, European and North American leading scholars in family economics and development economics. The objective of the workshop is to present recent research works at the connection of development and family economics with (i) empirical studies in family economics using data from developing countries, as well as (ii) theoretical contributions with potential applications for developing countries. This workshop provides a pleasing framework to enable scientific exchanges, to follow the new contributions to the field and to encourage further interaction between young and senior researchers.
